| The following are common signs of drug abusers |
  |
Often suffer from insomnia; may appear to be in high spirits and very talkative. Abusers may live life at a chaotic pace, and do not keep regular living habits. |
  |
Appetite may suddenly decrease, accompanied by loss of weight. |
  |
Pupil dilation and tachycardia for no apparent reason, fast pulse. |
  |
Mood swings, suspiciousness, deteriorating relationships. Abusers often lock themselves in a room. |
  |
Living space may contain drug bottles, aluminum foil, or drug smells. |
  |
Often appear to be intoxicated for no apparent reason. |
  |
Breath, hair, clothing, or living space may contain solvent odors the period of time medication is taken or change the amount of medication taken yourself |
  |
Living space or trash may contain empty glue or nail polish bottles, or plastic bags containing the odor of glue or solvent. |
  |
May have a circular rash around the mouth or nose. |
| Morphine or heroin abusers |
  |
Often spend large amounts of money for no apparent purpose. |
  |
Veins on the arms, legs, or groin may bear needle marks from injecting the drug.These may appear as needle pricks, bands of continuous needle scars, or hardening of the veins. |

Pupils may contract to pinpoint size. |
  |
May display occasional anxiety, yawning, runny nose, tears, nausea, vomiting, and other signs of withdrawal. |
  |
Boxes or cases may contain packets of drug powder; may keep partially smoked cigarettes in cigarette pack. |
